Digital News Report – Palm has come out with a new offering they hope will compete with iPhone and the Blackberry’s latest offerings. Their new Pre-Plus has twice the memory as Palm Pre along with a better interface to “navigate your life”.
The Pre Plus includes a touch-screen, a full keyboard and new “intuitive” Palm webOS platform. Their new operating system will run twice as many applications (apps) as before.
Users of the Pre-Plus can view websites and watch videos in a widescreen format. The keyboard slides out making it easier to send an email or text message. Of course you will be able to store your contacts and keep track of your personal events.
The Pixi will also operate on the webOS platform, but it’s thin design and fixed keyboard makes it an alternative to the Blackberry. With the Pix “Plus” you will access to WiFi on top of the normal feature provided by the Pixi. You can slide your finger across the touchscreen to open new apps.
The two largest wireless carriers in the United States, Verizon and AT&T, will offer the product. Verizon will start selling these phones on January 25 and AT&T will roll out the new phones over the next couple months.
