Obama picks Sec. Housing and Urban Development

Digital News Report- President-elect Barack Obama has announced Shaun Donovan as his choice for the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Donovan is currently New York City’s housing commissioner.  Obama made this announcement during his weekly radio address on December 13th, 2008.

During the Clinton administration and the transition to the Bush administration, Donovan was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multifamily Housing at HUD, and was acting FHA commissioner.

This is Obama’s eleventh pick for his cabinet.  He selected Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff early on.  Hillary Clinton will be his Secretary of State while Robert Gates will continue as Secretary of Defense.  Bill Richardson will be his Secretary of Commerce
