By Digital News Editorial Team on November 2, 2026

The Korean fantasy romance starring Shin Mina, Ju Jihoon, Lee Jongsuk and Lee Seyoung will debut one day early with four episodes, followed by weekly releases through November 25.

The upcoming Korean fantasy romance The Remarried Empress will premiere one day earlier than originally scheduled, bringing its first four episodes to Disney+ and Hulu on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The surprise announcement was made during a press conference in Seoul on Monday, giving viewers an early opportunity to watch the live-action adaptation of one of South Korea’s most popular webtoons.

Stars Shin Mina, Ju Jihoon, Lee Jongsuk and Lee Seyoung participated in the announcement, confirming that the series would arrive ahead of its previously scheduled November 4 debut. The early release is being presented as a thank-you to fans who have supported the production throughout its promotional campaign.

The 10-episode series will begin with four episodes on November 3, followed by two new installments each Wednesday starting November 11. The final two episodes are scheduled for November 25, completing the fantasy romance before the end of the month.

A Popular Webtoon Comes to Live-Action Television

The Remarried Empress is based on the popular NAVER WEBTOON of the same name, which has accumulated nearly three billion views. Its large existing audience has made the television adaptation one of the notable Korean drama releases scheduled for late 2026.

The story follows Navier, the respected empress of the Eastern Empire, whose marriage to Emperor Sovieshu begins to collapse after he develops feelings for another woman. The emperor becomes involved with Rashta, an escaped slave whose arrival at the palace threatens Navier’s marriage and position.

As Sovieshu’s relationship with Rashta develops, his treatment of Navier becomes increasingly difficult. Rather than surrendering her future to the emperor’s decisions, Navier begins considering a different path.

When Sovieshu asks for a divorce, Navier agrees under one important condition. She wants permission to marry Heinrey, the crown prince of the rival Western Kingdom, creating political and personal consequences for both royal courts.

The arrangement changes more than Navier’s romantic future. Her decision challenges the balance of power within the Eastern Empire while opening new possibilities for her position in a competing kingdom.

The drama combines romance, betrayal, ambition and political conflict within a fictional imperial setting. Elaborate costumes, palace interiors and sweeping landscapes establish a fantasy world in which personal relationships influence the fate of powerful rulers.

Shin Mina Leads the Four-Person Cast

Shin Mina stars as Empress Navier, the central character whose determination drives the story. The actress is widely known for her performances in Korean television dramas, including Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Karma and No Gain No Love.

Navier is presented as a capable ruler who has helped maintain prosperity in the Eastern Empire. Her personal crisis forces her to choose between remaining in an increasingly difficult marriage and pursuing a future beyond her husband’s court.

Ju Jihoon portrays Emperor Sovieshu, whose growing attachment to Rashta places his marriage and political responsibilities under pressure. Ju has previously appeared in productions including Kingdom, Light Shop and The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.

Lee Jongsuk plays Crown Prince Heinrey, the Western Kingdom royal who becomes interested in Navier. His character offers an alternative to her troubled marriage, although their developing relationship also has significant political implications.

Lee Seyoung portrays Rashta, the escaped slave whose relationship with Sovieshu disrupts the imperial household. Known for The Red Sleeve and The Crowned Clown, Lee takes on a character whose ambitions become increasingly important to the royal court.

The four principal characters form the center of the drama’s romantic and political conflicts. Their competing interests create the central tension as Navier attempts to regain control over her circumstances.

Busan Screenings and Trailer Build Anticipation

The early premiere follows a promotional campaign that attracted considerable attention from Korean drama audiences. Preview screenings at the Busan International Film Festival sold out, providing an early indication of interest in the adaptation.

The official trailer also performed strongly online. According to promotional figures reported by BroadwayWorld, it received more than 13 million views across YouTube and social media platforms during its first 48 hours.

Those figures reflect the combined reach of the promotional campaign rather than the number of people who will watch the completed series. Streaming viewership figures will provide a different measure of the program’s performance after its release.

The drama’s existing webtoon audience provides a recognizable foundation for the television version. Readers familiar with Navier’s story will be able to see how the adaptation interprets the characters, relationships and elaborate fictional settings.

The adaptation also introduces the story to viewers who have never read the source material. Its combination of royal politics and romantic conflict is designed to function as a standalone television narrative.

Experienced Writers and Director Behind the Adaptation

The Remarried Empress was adapted for television by screenwriters Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choongyeol. The production is directed by Cho Suwon, whose previous credits include the Korean dramas Pinocchio and Still 17.

The creative team faces the challenge of turning a lengthy webtoon narrative into a 10-episode television season. The adaptation must establish the central relationships while giving viewers enough background to understand the fictional empire and its political divisions.

The source material includes several intertwined conflicts involving marriage, social status and royal authority. Those elements provide the foundation for the television version’s combination of romance and political drama.

Costume design and production settings are also important to the series’ presentation. Promotional materials feature formal royal clothing, elaborate palace interiors and European-inspired architecture that distinguish its fantasy world from contemporary Korean dramas.

Disney+ and Hulu Confirm November Release Schedule

The revised premiere date means viewers will receive the opening four episodes on Tuesday, November 3, rather than Wednesday, November 4. The remainder of the schedule is unchanged.

Episodes five and six are scheduled for November 11, followed by episodes seven and eight on November 18. Episodes nine and ten will complete the season on November 25.

Disney+ and Hulu will carry the series in the United States, while Disney+ is the principal streaming platform in other supported territories. Availability may vary by region and subscription arrangements.

Disney’s official series information confirms that the program will have 10 episodes. It also lists the option of watching in Korean with English subtitles or selecting an English-language dub.

The streaming platforms initially promoted November 4 as the premiere date, and some previously published schedules still display that information. The newer announcement from the Seoul press conference establishes November 3 as the revised launch date.

The early debut does not change the total number of episodes or the planned November 25 finale. It simply allows viewers to begin the story one day sooner before the regular Wednesday release schedule takes effect.

A Major New Fantasy Romance for Korean Drama Fans

The release comes as Korean television productions continue reaching international audiences through major streaming platforms. Adaptations of established webtoons offer recognizable stories while giving filmmakers opportunities to introduce new visual interpretations.

For The Remarried Empress, the central attraction is Navier’s response to a marriage that threatens both her happiness and political standing. Her decision to remarry places personal independence at the center of a larger struggle involving royal power and competing loyalties.

The popularity of the original webtoon has already created substantial interest in the adaptation, but the television production will need to establish its own identity. Performances, pacing and the treatment of important story developments will determine how viewers respond to this version.

The first four episodes arrive on Disney+ and Hulu on November 3, with the remaining six scheduled across three Wednesdays. The finale on November 25 will complete the initial 10-episode adaptation of Navier’s story.
