Marvel Studios has revealed new scenes for Avengers: Endgame: Encore, a re-release of the 2019 film ahead of the upcoming sequel Avengers: Doomsday. These extra scenes include appearances by Doctor Doom and other characters, linking directly to the next big MCU movie.
The added footage was filmed to connect Endgame with the story of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, according to reports about the re-release. Robert Downey Jr. appears as Tony Stark in the original Endgame film and is playing Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Doctor Doom also appears in the newly added material.
The re-release includes a scene where Loki visits Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter after their final dance. Loki appears in what seems to be a TVA uniform and visits the couple at their home. Joe Russo has said the new material connects the story of Endgame directly to Avengers: Doomsday.
The scene changes how the ending of Endgame is understood in relation to the next film. It does not confirm that Steve Rogers caused a multiverse crisis or explain where Loki is taking him and Peggy.
Bruce Banner also appears in one of the new scenes trying to control his Hulk transformation. Doctor Doom arrives during this moment, adding tension and mystery to the scene.
Another new ending shows Doctor Doom making his mask while using the familiar sound of Tony Stark hammering metal that played at the end of the original film. These additions aim to make a smoother transition between Endgame and the Doomsday sequel.
Another sequence takes viewers to the Time Variance Authority as officials detect dangerous incursions involving multiple universes. The scene shows the multiverse beginning to collapse and provides another direct setup for Doomsday.
Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell are both confirmed in Avengers: Doomsday, continuing their roles from Endgame. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to open on December 18, 2026.
Marvel has been promoting the upcoming film with various teasers and behind-the-scenes content. The studio also introduced Infinity Vision as a certification for premium large-format theaters with standards covering large screens, bright images, projection quality and sound. Infinity Vision is being used as part of Marvel’s theatrical promotion for Endgame: Encore and Avengers: Doomsday.
The new scenes in Endgame: Encore are now available in theaters. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have been linked to Avengers: Doomsday through rumors and promotional appearances, but Marvel has not officially confirmed either actor as part of the cast. The re-release features Hayley Atwell, while Kathryn Newton is confirmed as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast.
Some notable names like Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie are not included in the current cast list. Marvel still has time to reveal more surprises before Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters.
Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man has been the subject of continued fan speculation about the sequel, but Marvel has not confirmed his involvement. A new poster and promo for Avengers: Endgame: Encore have also been released to help build excitement.
These new scenes give fans a preview of what’s coming in the next chapter of the MCU.
