The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Monday that they signed 13 players to their practice squad. There are also a few other reported signings that the team has not yet officially announced.
Running back Dameon Pierce was among those added to the squad, having been a fourth-round pick by the Houston Texans in 2022, according to phillyvoice.com. Pierce rushed for 939 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie before being waived during the 2025 season. He later joined the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad and was elevated to their active roster in late December. Pierce had a strong start to camp but missed several practices due to a hamstring injury. When he returned, he showed good form in the final preseason game and is likely to be called up if key running backs are injured.
Another back added was Carson Steele, who became a fan favorite during preseason games with his receiving and running skills. Running back Jaydon Blue was also signed, having been selected in the fifth round of the 2025 draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Blue had limited college rushing experience but showed promise with good speed and receiving ability at the combine.
Wide receiver Britain Covey was also added to the squad, known for his punt return skills. Covey was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the third round of 2024 but did not play in 2025.
Defensive players included EDGE Keyshawn James-Newby and Mason Reiger. James-Newby missed several practices due to an ankle injury but showed improvement in the final preseason game. Reiger was a priority undrafted free agent from Wisconsin who had five sacks and 33 tackles in his final season.
Joshua Weru, an undrafted International Player Pathway prospect, was not claimed off waivers despite showing athleticism in practice. Interior defensive linemen Gabe Hall and Uar Bernard were also added to the squad. Hall had strong performances in previous camps but was caught in a numbers crunch with five interior defenders making the roster. Bernard, an International Player Pathway prospect, has size and athletic testing numbers but still needs development.
LB Chance Campbell was also added, having been a sixth-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2022. Campbell missed all of his rookie season due to a knee injury and then another full season with a torn ACL. He had a good start to camp but was slowed by a groin injury.
Teams had until Sunday at 6:00 PM Eastern to make roster cuts, and claims for players on the waiver wire were revealed Monday at 1:00 PM, according to a report from bleedinggreennation.com. The Eagles are ranked 23rd in the claiming order, meaning several teams would need to pass on any player before they could be claimed.
It was reported that Uar Bernard, an International Player Pathway prospect, plans to sign with the Eagles practice squad. Dameon Pierce was reportedly ready to join the Eagles’ practice squad according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
The team is preparing for the upcoming season with these additions and is monitoring waiver claims closely.
