“Jordan Cox played a crucial innings, spending over three hours at the crease and scoring 55 and 61 runs. The fast bowler took four wickets that helped lift Pakistan’s spirits after their loss in the first Test. Along with Mohammad Ali, who claimed three wickets, Abbas contributed to a much-needed turnaround for the team.

England’s top-order batsmen struggled to maintain their composure during the day’s play, according to The Guardian. Jordan Cox played a crucial innings, scoring 55, while Jamie Smith contributed 61.

Cox was eventually dismissed for 55 when substitute fielder Salman Ali Agha took an excellent catch off Khurram Shahzad.  The partnership between Cox and Jamie Smith added 67 runs. The wicket of Smith was followed by the clean bowled dismissals of two other key players.

England’s batting lineup looked vulnerable throughout the day as Pakistan’s bowling attack grew in confidence. The surface at Lord’s was not the same as during a recent Test against New Zealand. The bounce was more consistent, which allowed both teams to play with greater freedom.

The first wicket fell to Duckett, who was caught lbw and later confirmed by review.  The first wicket fell to Duckett, who was caught lbw and later confirmed by review. This dismissal brought Abbas’s tally of first-class wickets to 900, a notable milestone in his career. It was surprising that only 123 of those wickets came while playing for Pakistan.

Harry Brook was dismissed by Ali, adding to the pressure on England’s batting lineup. England managed to reach 80 for four at lunch, giving Pakistan a chance to take control of the match. However, Cox and Smith turned things around in the second session. The pair’s partnership helped England regain some momentum before tea.

Jamie Smith’s innings was notable as he reached a half-century. The fielding performance by Pakistan was inconsistent throughout the day. Salman Ali Agha’s catch was a highlight in an otherwise shaky effort.

Pakistan missed an opportunity to dismiss Smith early in his innings when Mohammad Rizwan failed to take an edge, allowing Smith to capitalize and eventually reach 61.

Mohammad Ali produced two excellent deliveries to bowl Jamie Smith and Ollie Robinson before Abbas later bowled Jofra Archer for 14. Abbas also dismissed Jofra Archer late in the day to keep Pakistan’s momentum going.

The second Test now looks more competitive than the first one, thanks to Pakistan’s improved performance.
