Charli XCX has officially reached the top of the ARIA Albums Chart with her latest release ‘Music, Fashion, Film’. The album marks her fourth appearance in the top ten and her first No. 1 since 2024’s remix release of ‘BRAT’. This achievement ends a streak by Amy Shark, who had previously held the No. 1 spot with ‘Soft Pop’ which debuted at No. 2.
The British singer and producer’s new album comes as a follow-up to her successful ‘Brat’ from last year. She has already performed several new tracks live in recent shows, including a special appearance at Lollapalooza. Charli took the stage in Nashville for a Spotify event at Basement East and introduced multiple songs from her new album. She opened the set with ‘Playboy Bunny’ and performed ‘Yeah’, ‘Apple’, and ‘Wink Wink’ for the first time live. The performance included three new songs played together for the first time, including ‘Magic Metal Montana’, ‘Card Declined’, and ‘2007’. Other tracks from the setlist included ‘SS26’, ‘Rock Music’, ‘Party 4 U’, and ‘Anthems’. She also debuted the song ‘No One Lasts Forever’ during the Nashville show.
The album was met with praise, with NME giving it a four-star review and calling it a celebration of art. In addition to the album, Charli shared a film and a set of B-sides as part of the release. She also revealed her top five Charli XCX songs, including one she described as a party anthem and another that made her feel sentimental.
Up next, Charli will headline the Reading & Leeds festivals in the UK later this month. She is also scheduled to tour North America in September, with tickets available for purchase.
The ARIA chart also featured other new entries including Icelandic singer Laufey’s album and the debut of Australian artist Budjerah. South African singer Tyla made a significant leap with her sophomore album, reaching No. 28. Canadian country star Shania Twain also entered the chart with her seventh studio album at No. 30.
On the singles chart, Ella Langley continued her run at No. 2 with her collaboration with Sam Fender. International girl group Katseye made their first top 50 entry with ‘Animal’, debuting at No. 8. The group visited Australia in May for a series of fan events and showcases.
