People born between the 11th and the 20th of the month will receive their Social Security benefits on Wednesday, October 19. The payment date is determined by the day someone was born, not by the year they were born. Those born between the first and the 10th of each month will get their payments on the second Wednesday of every month. For example, in August 2026, that date was August 12. Those born between the 21st and the 31st of each month will receive their payments on the fourth Wednesday of every month. In August, that date was August 26.
Supplemental Security Income payments were issued on August 3, according to lehighvalleylive.com. The next SSI payment will be sent out on Tuesday, September 1. Following that, Social Security payments are scheduled for Wednesday, September 9. Then come September 16 and September 23.
Regardless of the date, most Social Security payments are made through direct deposit. The agency continues to reduce the number of paper checks it sends out. Paper checks are more likely to be lost, stolen, or altered than electronic payments. They also cost significantly more for the agency to process. Each paper check costs about $3.07 to send, which is roughly 20 times more than an automated payment.
