Courtney Love posted an update on Instagram revealing that her long-awaited solo album is finished. She shared that she was in the hospital for most of 2020 and spent her time writing and recording. Love said she made the album with the belief that it would be her final one. She also mentioned that she is now healthy and wants to tour again.
The singer thanked several musicians for their help on the record, including Butch Walker and Billie Joe Armstrong, according to Consequence. Love spoke about her health in detail during the video post. She said that she went to England in 2019 and her body suddenly collapsed. She described the experience as her body ‘exploding’ and said she was hospitalized often. Love added that she almost died and lost all her hair during the illness.
She did not name the specific illness but revealed in a previous post that she had anemia in August 2020. At the time, her weight was 97 pounds. She said she is now getting better with help from CBD treatments.
Love described experiencing confusion and hallucinations during her illness. She said that people would tell her red was blue, which made her confused. She added that she had to convince herself that maybe they were right.
Love said that when people told her she would die, she didn’t believe them. She said somehow she recovered and is now back to normal.
Love also reflected on her last Hole album, Nobody’s Daughter, which she said flopped. She recalled performing at a Pizza Hut Park while Limp Bizkit and Thirty Seconds to Mars were headlining.
She is now trying to figure out how to release her new solo album. This upcoming record will be the follow-up to her 2004 solo effort, America’s Sweetheart.
Hole’s 1994 album, Live Through This, was recently listed among the 100 Best Sophomore Albums of All Time. The update came after Love had been mostly silent for years. She has not shared much personal information in recent years, making this post a rare glimpse into her recovery.
