Digital News Report- Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and many people have barely even begun to think about what they want to do.  Some people may even begin planning on the evening of February 13th.  Others may even realize it’s V-day on the morning of the 14th and desperately run out to grab a nice box of chocolates and some flowers.  Well, fear not!  We have easy, romantic, and inexpensive suggestions for you right here.

Cheap Things

With a struggling economy, expensive jewelry is probably not the top of very many peoples list for Valentines Day.  But buying cheap doesn’t necessarily mean sacrificing the romance. To help bail out bankrupt beaus, a Web site dedicated to helping men impress girls with flowers, www.savedbythebud.com, has created a new section, Buds on a Budget, filled with affordable floral gift ideas for cash strapped suitors. “It’s the buds, not the bucks that count,” says the site. Tips include choosing one, fabulous perfect flower over a bulked up bouquet. Properly presented, “One or two wisely-chosen stems can be just as cool a gift as two dozen — if your presentation is charming.”

There is also Etsy.com, which offers handmade items at low prices.  Their gift guide section is loaded with Valentines Day trinkets from unique jewelry, knit accessories, mugs, and so much more.  Prices range from cheap to moderately expensive, but the personal touch will make any priced item so much more sentimental.  For a cheaper alternative, use Etsy as inspiration to try your hand at your own creative craft.  Not everyone has the skill to make a gift, but after browsing the site for a while you may just find something within your own skill level.

Sweet Things
Donuts may not necessarily be a great gift in its own right, but can be a great way to start off the most romantic morning of the year.  Krispy Kreme is offering heart shaped donuts (pictured) topped with icing and decorated with red, white, and pink sprinkles.  Now through February 14, the Share the Love promotion features one dozen heart doughnuts and one dozen Original Glazed. With each dozen purchased, customers receive 12 Valentine’s Day cards with a coupon for one free doughnut.

“This Valentine’s Day, make it love at first bite with our delicious heart doughnuts,” said Ron Rupocinski, executive chef for Krispy Kreme. “And, whether it’s a teacher, colleague, friend or that special someone, show how much you care with this heartfelt treat that will satisfy any sweet tooth.”

For another sweet gift try Naked Cookies from Edible Gifts Plus. The gift box of 4 home made sugar cookies come ‘naked’ with an assortment of delicious toppings used to ‘dress’ the cookies to anyone’s liking.  The activity of decorating the cookies can be a fun activity for everyone on Valentines Day, or you can spruce them up for your loved one and give them personalized sweets as a gift.
