Fashion tips were given to help hide the problem areas. Last there was a segment on spa baths that can be done at home to help ease achy joints and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Women often complain of a specific spots on the body that store extra fat. The most common trouble spots are the lower body’s butt, hips, and thighs, and the other is the mid-section area with excessive belly fat. Dr. Oz said that there might be some different ways to target specific areas for weight loss.

One audience member said that having a larger bottom makes her feel insecure because people stare at it. Dr. Oz showed the subcutaneous fat below the skin of a normal weight person and one that stores fat on the thighs. The fat is thicker and can peel away in a layer. He said that the good news about having fat on the bottom half is it is a healthier type of fat that can protect against cardiovascular disease. The bad part of having weight in the lower half is it is harder to get rid of because there is a lack of blood vessels.
Foods to Eat to lose the Big Butt and Thighs
The diet for losing weight on the butt and thighs is to eat a low-fat diet. Dr. Oz said not to eat meat that comes from animal sources so much. He did say to eat low-fat dairy products because calcium has been found to increases weight loss. Oz is not a fan of no-fat dairy and suggests drinking 2 percent reduced fat milk.
Suggested foods included eating a low fat yogurt with fruit. Another idea is to eat some food with cottage cheese later on. Snacks are OK and one idea shown was low-fat milk with cocoa mixed in. For dinner, there is a lean turkey burger.
Dr. Oz said that carbohydrates are different for big bottom and big belly weight loss. The big bottom folks can have more carbs, but just not too many he explained.

Next, they showed the exercises that would help firm the bottom half. The exercise specialist demonstrated what she called a curtsy squat. You lunge back diagonal to the opposite side alternating sides. Then they showed a band exercise that works the back. The exercise specialist said that you should alternate back and forth between this exercise and the curtsy squat.

Audience members with bigger bellies said that it is frustrating because they have tried so many things to trim their stomach with no luck. One woman said that people sometimes think she is pregnant when all it is belly fat. Another said that it is difficult to move and play with her kids. Another said that when she is walking down the street people would look at her big stomach and this causes her stress.
Dr. Oz showed the difference of a person with big belly and a normal waistline. The intestines are coated with fat when a person has a large belly. The belly fat in the mid-section is also found around the heart. Dr. Oz said that the belly fat is much easier to get rid of than the fat on the butt and thighs. Having excessive belly fat is linked to Type 2 diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. He said that the #1 reason it is difficult to get rid of fat in the middle is related to stress. Dr. Oz explained that cortisol hormones starts to surge when a person is under stress. These hormones break down muscles and tell the fat to store around the belly. By doing this your body will be ready to use this fat, which was our body’s survival mechanism.

Dr. Oz said to eat a low carbohydrate diet and to get rid of refined carbohydrates. All of the carbohydrates should be replaced with whole grains such as buckwheat, barley, and amaranth. He also said to eat healthy fats such as olive oil, and fatty fish. Sample food would be to eat a slice of Ezekiel bread spread with a mixture of mashed avocado, olive oil, lemon juice and red chili flakes.
Exercise Routine for shrinking the Waistline
The exercise specialist demonstrated a step workout. Aerobics is the key to burning the fat of the mid-section. The trick is to avoid a steady cardio routine. Instead, start with a slow pace on the step and then move fast for about a minute, then return back to a slower step. Continue to cycle through fast and slow pace during your aerobics she explained because it would help boost metabolism and burn more fat. The alternating workout routine achieves both an aerobic and anaerobic workout, which is burning more fat in less time. Dr. Oz added that exercise is a good stress reducer.

The next segment had fashion stylist Robert Verdi to share common dressing problems and solutions to address those problem spots. By picking the correct outfits a person can instantly look 10 pounds lighter without losing a pound.

Verdi said that big bottom fashion problems include not wearing a well-fitted top. Women often create a boxy shape, which is not flattering. Another problem is that a person actually enhances the problem area that they are trying to hide.
To solve the problem big bottom problem – Pick dark colors on the bottom and make the top stand out on top. The top should hit the top or middle of your hips and not longer than this. Wearing a wide leg trouser can offset large thighs and make the upper legs look thinner. Another problem is to wear a bright color or a pattern for a top because it brings attention to the problem area emphasizing the large belly.
To solve the problem – Verdi suggests wearing a V-shaped neckline to help draw attention upwards to your face. Another suggestion is to wear solid deeper tones on top. Do not wear overly billowy tops. Another no-no is to wear busy or horizontal prints.
Verdi closed the segment saying that anyone that wants to look slimmer should stay away from the lighter wash denims, or those with stress or tears. Wear the darker wash jeans and this will slim. He said a boot cut would look slimmer especially if the color is darker and has one tone.

Switzerland – Eat muesli for breakfast. Muesli is a whole grain breakfast that helps fill you up completely and will help control blood sugar explains Dr. Oz. If you would eat this breakfast instead of bacon and eggs after one year, you could lose seven pounds.
South Africa– Drink Rooibos Tea to keep slim. Rooibos Tea is naturally sweet and can boost immune health said Oz. He said that if you wear to drink Rooibos Tea instead of one cup of coffee and get rid of half-half and sugar you could lose 7 ½ pounds in one year.

Add Turmeric and Curry Spices in bath water. This is popular in India and Japan because it helps soothes joint and arthritis pain.
