Digital News Report – President Obama made his 2009 tax return public on the Whitehouse.gov Blog website. The Obamas owed $1,792,414 in taxes to the Internal Revenue Service. The Obamas made their estimated tax payments and the withholding taxes from his job as President of the United States for a total of $1,800,701 which gave the Obama household a refund due them of $8,287.
Most of the Obama’s income came from business income of $5,137,777. Wages and salaries added up to $374,460. The prize money from the Nobel Peace Prize was donated by the Obamas to ten different charitable organizations including the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the United Negro College Fund and the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund of the Clinton Foundation to name a few. Altogether the Obamas have donated $329,100 to 40 different charities in 2009.
After looking at President Obama’s tax returns, it makes my own tax return look like small potatoes – really really small potatoes.
