Digital News Report

Digital News Report – Various labor and progressive groups are putting the pressure on advertisers to the Glenn Beck show on Fox News. The libertarian-conservative commentator has said he believes in personal responsibility, private charity and is pro-life.

The 2.2-million member Service Employees International Union began a campaign to get advertisers to stop sponsoring his show. The SEIU, which says they are the fastest growing union in the United States, are urging their members to tell the sponsors to “stop sponsoring hate”.

AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka told an audience at Harvard University that Gleen Beck may have a positive effect on the country by turning anger into action. “We are working to counter the Glenn Beck effect and turn anger into action for real change,” Trumka said.

Today the 46-year old Beck responded by saying he wasn’t preaching hate. “Trumka last week came out and said that I am preaching nothing but hate,” Beck said. “I want you to know there’s a difference between the truth and hate.”

“Labor unions are fighting for their lives. They have over-promised pensions. There is no way that you’re going to be able to get your pension.”

Glenn Beck on his show say’s America should prepare for hard times and learn to tighten our belts? That’s easy for a guy who made $32 million dollars last year. Do as I say and not as I do, eh Glenn.

    Charles,

Tightening your belt refers to being frugal with your spending and has nothing to do with how much an individual makes. Many people are wealthy and still remain frugal. Your frustration should be directed at the guy in the oval office that tells us to do the same while spending outrageous amounts of money on weekly exclusive white house parties to dine on lobster, Kobe beef, and caviar. Not to mention his disregard for the cost of his personal outings.
