Digital News Report – Oprah Winfrey is going to be ending her syndicated daytime TV series ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ in September 2011 but she isn’t going away from television as she will be on cable and satellite channel called OWN which stands for Oprah Winfrey Network.
Winfrey will have a show on the OWN network called “Oprah’s Next Chapter” which is to be an hour long show. Winfrey’s new show isn’t going to the standard studio format show and will take her out in the world. It sounds more like a travel channel show where she is out talking to people worldwide.
The OWN channel is going to launch on January 1st, 2011 and is a joint venture between Harpo Inc. and Discovery Communications.
On the OWN network they are planning to have a reality TV show with Shania Twain documenting her life as a country music star. They will have another reality TV show created by Mark Burnett searching for TV’s next big star. Oprah Winfrey will have a show that documents her last year of doing ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show.’
The OWN network has quite a lineup of shows that just might catch viewers attention.
