Not that Shen and Zhato did not deserve “a” medal last night, its just that their performance last
night was not deserving of the Gold medal. The Chinese pair that escalated from second place to
win the Silver medal were the true winners of the Gold medal. Their performance was flawless and
wonderful to witness. They received a well deserved standing ovation. Its not how well you skate
in warm up. or the day before, or the week previous, it has to be perfection on the big night that
matters. Shen and Zhao made mistakes that they are very aware of and we all know, who watched last night the Silver medalists rose to that perfection and were
the true winners of the Gold. When you achieve pivitol success in your sport, you deserve
acknowledgement, and NOT to lose to your competitors for the sentimental vote! Shen andZhato
have an eighteen year history-very impressive- still, it was a hollow Gold victory for them .Even
their wonderful coach knew they were not worthy of the medal, just by his very faint smile.
