Valentines Day Ideas

Early Card circa 1940-1950

Digital News Report – Since Valentines Day is landing on a Sunday this year, perhaps a trip to the movies or a romantic dinner would be a great option. Typically men forget about these unimportant holidays, so an indirect reminder may be in order.

A dinner and movie would be appropriate for couples who are just getting to know each other. Perhaps a card and box of candies would work as well. If you do go out to see a movie, “Valentines Day” staring Jessica Alba, Kathy Bates and Jessica Biel will be opening this Friday just in time for the big day. If you are looking for a tear-jerker, “Dear John” might be the ticket.

If you want to spark things up a bit, consider a trip to Catalina, San Francisco or Las Vegas. This is great for people who have been together for some time but the flame may be flickering a little. Wine country is an additional option.

Another alternative is the home-vacation. Spend the day and evening at home and give your wife a vacation from house work. Prepare her a candlelit dinner and do the dishes for her. Some nice flowers would be a great touch.

Romantic holidays in February may date back to the Greco-Roman era so men have been grappling with this issue for eons. February 14th may have been a day to honor Saint Valentine, a Christian Martyr in Rome. That was the story before Hallmark got their teeth into celebration.
