Digital News Report – The experiment is over and Air America is going off the air. The company shut down their website except a message to listeners.
“The very difficult economic environment has had a significant impact on Air America’s business,” the statement said. “This past year has seen a “perfect storm” in the media industry generally.”
Back on October 13, 2006 they were forced to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Air America was losing money.
But why did the company fail. Other radio stations have been hit with sagging listener-ship?
The company was set up as an alternative to Rush Limbaugh and other conservative talk shows. Air America put forth progressive and liberal ideas.
Perhaps liberals and conservatives are different. Conservatives love to talk about ideas while liberals listen to the news. Conservatives have always complained about the liberal media. Perhaps liberals are more interested in facts rather than opinion.
Ted Turner, a liberal, was able to make CNN a viable company. Meanwhile, Rupert Murdoch, was able to put together a news station that promotes commentators with a conservative tilt.

They failed because they let Randi Rhodes go and had tons of health info-mercials on all the time.
Oh.and conservatives love to talk about separating themselves from the poor and lower middle classes AND other people NOT like them.
Hence why a majority of people who associated with them and now see this are flying as far from the Conservatives at the the speed of light.
Progressives just want progress. And the Republicans have said NO for over 30 years of congress majority.
Their days are over…and Massachussettes voters voted out of anger..but what I don’t understand is..why go back to the whipping post..when the guy who rescued you from whipping break wasn’t giving you a mansion fast enough?? so they vote to go back to the whipping post.
Stupid Americans!
