Digital News Report- Demetri Martin is the latest Daily Show contributor to get his own show, “Important Things with Demetri Martin,” which will premiere on February 11 at 10:30pm.  It has been boasted as “the most important TV show of all time ever,” and will feature stand-up comedy, animation, studio bits, music, and sketches exploring one “important thing,” every episode. In the premiere episode, Martin will explore the subject of “Timing.”

I must confess I’m extremely excited about this series.  Martin’s unique brand of humor has me consistently rolling in the aisles.  Whether it’s his Pie Chart on Procrastination, his “Trendspotting,” segment on The Daily Show, or his charming musical numbers, I find myself consistently entertained.

“Important Things with Demetri Martin” is the second series pick-up under COMEDY CENTRAL’s first-look agreement with Jon Stewart’s Busboy Productions, Inc.  The first was the highly successful The Colbert Report starring former Daily Show correspondent Stephen Colbert. The show is produced by Busboy in association with One Verse, Inc. and is executive produced by Stewart and Martin.

Other topics rumors to take place in the series include power, safety, chairs, games, coolness, and what happens after we die. For the premiere season comedycentral.com will feature weekly exclusive video content to give fans a look into some of the “Important Things” Martin has chosen to explore. The site will feature show preview, highlight clips, a blog, behind-the-scenes originals, an original word game and a widget. Fans will also have the chance to show their interpretation of each week’s “Important Thing” with a fan “‘Important Things Picture Contest.”
